La Trenza Braiding Workshop

Sunday, April 28, 2024; 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Scraps of fabric and toys are braided together and lying on sandy ground.

La Trenza is a growing art installation piece that unifies the stories of humans in transit, immigrants, asylum seekers, displaced families, men, women, children that have lived the endless journey of crossing a border. Representing each individual through the objects they carry during their travels, this piece started from rescued objects found in the desert of Ciudad Juarez and it continues to grow and bring people together.

Braiding is our way of connecting—linking different thoughts, places, cultures, and perspectives. This braid is a testament to our shared humanity.

Come be a part of “La Trenza.” Bring something personal, something that speaks to you. Find a place in the braid that feels right, and attach your item firmly. It’s more than just an object; it’s your chapter in the grand story we’re all writing together.

No worries if you’ve come empty-handed—we’ve prepared ribbons and markers for you to express your part of this collective tale. Take one and join us in this meaningful gesture of unity.

We invite you to join our collective storytelling. Share your story with us.
